Adults (18+), Couples, Families (with children 13+)
Joel has a Master of Counselling from the University of Lethbridge and is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. He has experience working with individuals who need support for anxiety, depression, personal growth, and trauma (PTSD). Joel also helps couples and families improve communication, conflict management, trust, and connection.
Joel works with individuals, couples and families to help them face life's challenges and develop resilience. He can help with anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD), ADHD, anger, personal growth goals, disordered eating, communication issues, self esteem, impulse control, relationship issues and more.
Joel has a frank and direct approach that attempts to help clients build strategies, develop and implement practical tools, and create processes that help them reach goals in a way that is relevant while respecting how the client sees and understands their concerns.
Joel takes a client directed approach that blends Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). He works from a Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) perspective which uses the client’s feedback to quickly and effectively help them identify their strengths as well as growth edges and areas for improvement. He understands that clients sometimes feel like the only answer they can come up with is “I don’t know”, and that may leave them feeling lost, stuck, or unsure.
