Amanda has been licensed as an occupational therapist for the past 6 years and has a variety of experience working with people who have depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, sensory and emotional dysregulation, and cognitive impairments.
Amanda is able to complete assessment and counselling in the following areas: cognitive impairments, exposure therapy, mental health, home assessments, wheelchair assessments, return to work rehabilitation, and ergonomic assessments.
In therapy, Amanda prefers to use a client-centered and cognitive behavioural therapy approach that empowers clients to regain autonomy and confidence in their everyday life, when struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety or trauma. Depending on the needs of the client, Amanda will complete sessions in clinic, the community, or virtually to help attain a client’s goals.
Amanda draws from a range of evidence-based modalities in her therapy practice, tailoring her approach to each client's unique needs and goals. She has extensive training in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which focuses on psychological flexibility and values-based action. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is another core part of her practice, helping clients identify and shift unhelpful thought and behavior patterns. For clients struggling with anxiety, trauma, or obsessive thoughts, Amanda uses exposure and response prevention (ERP) to gradually face fears and reduce avoidance. Motivational interviewing techniques help foster clients' internal motivation for change.

More About Amanda
Amanda has been living in Central Alberta for the past 6 years, and has enjoyed being in smaller communities, as it reminds her of her hometown in Manitoba. Central Alberta has been a great place for her and her husband to raise their young family and explore the outdoors. In their free time, they return to Manitoba for family visits or head to Vancouver Island to relax and unwind.
