Jody Cumberbatch Lewis is a Registered Psychologist who works primarily with adults, with a special interest in supporting parents and caregivers. She helps clients navigate anxiety, depression, burnout, compassion fatigue, and the impacts of trauma, offering a thoughtful and supportive space for healing and growth.
Jody’s counselling philosophy is grounded in evidence-based, client-centred care, with a strong focus on building resilience while addressing immediate concerns. She takes a trauma-informed approach, recognizing that many clients come to therapy with complex personal histories, and prioritizes creating an environment rooted in safety, trust, and empowerment.
In addition to counselling, Jody provides ADHD and psychoeducational assessments for children (8+), youth, and adults.
Jody is particularly passionate about helping individuals manage anxiety and depression, especially those balancing the demands of caregiving and daily life. She supports clients in developing practical tools to cope with distress while also exploring deeper patterns that may be contributing to their challenges.
Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, Jody helps clients build self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with their values. Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing burnout, or working through the effects of trauma, she provides a steady and supportive space to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Jody’s work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with nine years of experience supporting clients using this approach. She integrates principles of self-compassion and contextual behavioural science to help individuals develop psychological flexibility and respond more effectively to difficult thoughts and emotions. She also incorporates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support clients in processing trauma and reducing the impact of distressing experiences.
Jody practices through a trauma-informed and intersectional lens, recognizing that mental health is shaped by the broader systems and lived experiences that influence how individuals relate to themselves and the world around them.
