What is an Occupational Therapist?

Occupational Therapists are regulated health professionals with extensive training in physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning. They specialize in helping individuals overcome barriers to participation in everyday activities whether at home, work, or in the community.

Highly Trained and Regulated Professionals

In Alberta, registered Occupational Therapists have completed master’s-level education and extensive supervised clinical training. They are regulated by the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT), ensuring that they adhere to rigorous professional and ethical standards. This means you can trust that the care they provide is safe, evidence-based, and held to the highest level of professional accountability.

Evidence-Based and Effective Therapy

Occupational therapy interventions are grounded in research and proven strategies to help clients regain function, develop new skills, and enhance overall wellbeing.

The therapeutic relationship, your connection with your OT, is a key part of successful outcomes. Our OTs prioritize empathy, trust, and collaboration to ensure you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Accessible and Affordable Support

Occupational therapy services are often covered by private insurance, employer benefits, and programs such as WCB or Alberta Blue Cross. Accessing OT care provides practical, effective, and affordable support to help you achieve your goals and improve daily functioning.

In-Home Cognitive & Functional Capacity Evaluations (CFAE)

For complex return-to-work cases involving chronic pain, cognitive challenges, or neurodivergence, our in-home assessments capture clients’ abilities in their own environment, providing more accurate and actionable insights. Assessments can be tailored to your needs, including cognitive-only evaluations or combined cognitive and physical function assessments. They are available in half-day, one-day, or two-day formats and can include custom simulations for specific job roles.
Detailed reports include functional abilities and limitations, return-to-work readiness with realistic accommodations, and validity indicators, all delivered with a rapid turnaround.
