Maya has over 3 years of experience working with individuals who live with mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, and ADHD. She utilizes a variety of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness to support clients and help them regain independence in their daily lives.
Maya has additional training in adult ADHD, and this is an interest area of hers due to her personal experience with navigating an ADHD diagnosis as an adult, as well as supporting friends and loved ones to navigate their diagnoses of adult ADHD.
With years of experience, Maya can help her clients understand and challenge the unhelpful beliefs that perpetuate feelings of anxiety. She works with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, panic attacks and phobias.
Maya works with individuals who experience chronic pain, extended illness and traumatic brain injury. Her approach is one of empowerment and encouragement, as she believes in her client's ability to heal themselves and improve quality of life.
Depression is a tough thing to deal with, and it's even tougher when you're not sure what's causing your feelings. Maya can help you learn how to recognize the negative thought patterns that worsen depression while teaching you helpful strategies to remain positive.
Being neurodivergent herself, Maya brings a unique perspective to her counselling sessions. She works with individuals living with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and other neurodivergent conditions to help them manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Maya has experience working with individuals who have developed post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after experiencing or witnessing one or more traumatic events. She provides them with the skills to cope with their symptoms and begin to heal.
