Joshua is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. He has spent over a decade helping both adults and adolescents heal from the impacts of trauma as well as other mental health and behavioural issues in a residential treatment setting. Joshua recognizes that trauma influences each person in different ways and that there are multiple paths towards healing and wellness.

ADHD in Adults

Joshua has years of experience working with adults living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In his session, he provides helpful strategies to help the individual manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Anxiety

Joshua works with individuals living with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, panic attacks, or phobias. In his sessions, he works with the individual to challenge unhelpful beliefs and regain control of their lives.

Depression & Grief

It is challenging for people living with depression, grief, loss, self-harm or suicidal ideation to seek help, but you’re not alone. Joshua provides a safe and caring space for teenagers and adults to process difficult emotions and heal.

OCD

Joshua uses exposure and response therapy to help individuals living with obsessive thoughts and compulsions slowly gain exposure to their triggers while gently enabling them to regain control of their thoughts and behaviours.

Relationship Issues

Joshua provides a caring space where individuals can learn how to navigate difficult relationship situations, set boundaries, increase trust and intimacy, work on self-development, reflect on themselves and prioritize their own wellbeing.

Stress & Burnout

Nowadays, everyone seems to be experience excessive stress and trying to avoid burn out. Joshua works with you to develop better time management and relaxation skills to not only prevent, but heal from stress and burn out.

Substance Use

Substance issues in Canada have reached a record high. Counselling can help individuals accept their addiction, develop the necessary skills and receive the encouragement needed to curb the behaviour and live a life of sobriety.

Trauma & PTSD

Joshua specializes in adult and childhood trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has spent the last decade working with teenagers and adults in a variety of setting to process, accept, and move on from traumatic experiences.

Joshua's Preferred Approaches

Joshua offers individual therapy for teenagers and adults. He has over 10 years experience in working with diverse clientele and addresses an individual’s concerns through utilizing an eclectic approach. He believes in tailoring the best treatment plan to meet your own unique needs by integrating techniques from various therapy approaches. In addition, he utilizes a trauma-informed, biopsychosocial approach that holistically addresses a person’s ability to function at the highest level possible. This includes incorporating techniques from CBT, solution-focused, exposure, and mindfulness-based therapies. He is skilled in developing emotional awareness and building emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills. Joshua believes that life is messy and he will work from a nonjudgmental stance to meet you where you are at, and through collaboration, will help elicit positive change and healing.

Prior to counselling, Joshua worked in emergency services as both an EMT and Firefighter. Joshua enjoys stand-up comedy and believes that humor is an invaluable coping skill that can help get you through tough times. He loves to play and watch sports, enjoys reading, cooking, and is currently teaching himself how to play piano.
